The Punch report that Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano state has warned residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons to the police following to the confessions of
the woman.
It was reported that the mother of three, was abducted in Maiduguri by Boko Haram insurgents and transported to Hotoro, Kano, where she was eventually rescued by law enforcement agents.
Governor Ganduje said the rescued mother confessed during an interrogation that she was asked to engage in a suicide bombing of the popular Kantin Kwari Market but said she did not know the location.
The botched suicide attack on the state has being the subject of discussion among residents who experienced such attacks during the Jonathan administration.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has spoken out to insist that the security problems Nigeria currently faces will be resolved in the near future.
The general made the comments at the opening ceremony of the 16th annual conflict management seminar themed, ‘Harnessing the diverse expertise of government and non-governmental organisations in rebuilding the socio-economic life of post conflict communities: North Eastern Nigeria in perspective.’
General Buratai, represented by General Officer Commanding of 81 Division of the Nigerian army, Major General Henry Edet, ventilated his belief that the crème of officers present at the seminar would be able to brainstorm on how best to provide seamless logistics support across the nation.
