Andy Murray battles to French Open third round with five-set Mathias Bourgue win

Andy Murray has reached the third round of the French Open after beating Mathias Bourgue 6-2 2-6 4-6 6-2 6-3.
The Scot suffered another long afternoon on the red clay of Paris as the 22-year-old Frenchman took him to five sets.
It looked as if it would be a straightforward afternoon for the world No.2 who took the first set 6-2 and rushed to a 2-0 lead in the second.
But a mid-match collapse from Britain’s top player saw him lose eight games in a row and fall a set behind to the Grand Slam debutant.

Bourgue made Murray work for the victory
Bourgue, ranked 164th in the world, was a wildcard for the tournament and looked a decent draw for Murray on paper.
However, he proved to be anything but as he
reeled off 16 points in a row towards the end of the second and start of the third set.
Murray stopped the rot in the fourth set and rediscovered momentum to win the contest relatively comfortably in the fifth.
Backed by the Parisian crowd, it was an extremely tough afternoon for Murray and was his second five-set battle in as many matches.
He previously went the distance against Radek Stepanek in round one and the Scot will hope he has an easier time of it against his next opponent Ivo Karlovic.
