It was some coup for the Gunners too, as Carter’s fine 18th-minute strike was enough to dethrone the reigning champions and current Super League champions in front of a healthy crowd of more than 32,000 at Wembley.
Despite going into the clash as underdogs, Pedro Martinez Losa’s charges took full control of the contest, although they did need
to weather a late storm from the Blues to get their hands on the trophy.
It is the 14th time Arsenal have won this particular piece of silverware, reclaiming the Cup they last won in 2014.
