The Nigerian presidency has cleared the air concerning the man who accompanied Amina Ali, the rescued Chibok girl, to the state house on Thursday, May 19.
Contrary to some media reports, the man who followed Amina to Aso Rock is her elder brother and not the Boko Haram abductor who got
her pregnant.
The statement shared on the official Facebook page of Aso Rock Villa reads:
The statement went on to state sternly that under no circumstances will a presidential welcome be extended to an abductor or a terrorist.
Amina was one of 219 schoolgirls missing since being kidnapped from a secondary school in the town of Chiboktwo years ago.
She is the only surviving female in a family of 13 and not the only child of her family as was earlier speculated.
Meanwhile, the Chibok community under the aegis of Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA) has warned Nigerians against referring to Boko Haram terrorists as their daughters’ husbands.
The Chibok community made this known at a press briefing organized by the Bring Back Our Girls advocacy group in Abuja, on Thursday, May 19. Speaking at the press briefing, Tsambido Hosea Abana, the chairman of the Chibok community in Abuja told the federal government its daughter, Amina Ali who was recently rescued from the grip of Boko Haram is not, and has never been married to any terrorist.
