The Promise Keepers are sixth in the NPFL table in
the 13-week-old topflight campaign and the tactician believes assertions
on his team could be untimely
judge Akwa United's performance in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The 2015 Federation Cup champions started the campaign winless in their five opening fixtures, but have since shown great improvement as they are six points adrift of league leaders, Plateau United.
“It is too early for people to talk about our performance; a new coach with some new players needs time to blend," Maikaba told Goal.
"I remembered that I gave my word that after 10 weeks, you all will see the best of Akwa United. I think that I am vindicated now because we have shown some real improvement in the way we play and the result we've gotten so far.
“The early stage pressure is unnecessary and I believe that we have overcome it and we shall never go back to that situation again.
"I know the contract that I have signed and I am working very hard to make sure that at the end of the season, the aspiration of the team is achieved. The Akwa Ibom state government have been very supportive most especially the chairman of the club.”
