Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has been
rewarded for his excellent recent form by being named Premier League
Player of the Month for March.
Lukaku
scored four times in just three games d
uring this month, also clocking
up two assists as the Toffees prepare to make a late assault on the top
four.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was
named manager of the month, while Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend
received the goal of the month award.
Lukaku scored in all three of Everton's
games in March, netting once each in the 3-2 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur
and the 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, and getting a late double in
their 4-0 hammering of Hull City.
His
form has resulted in the Belgian striker being heavily linked with a
move away from Goodison Park, with former club Chelsea said to be
interested.
Lukaku has now scored 21
league goals for Ronald Koeman's team this season - he is the first
Everton player to score more than 20 in a Premier League campaign -
putting him at the head of the top scorer charts.
He said of the award: 'It gives me another boost. I'm playing well at the minute and the team is doing really well.'
Meanwhile, Townsend's superb solo goal in
the late stages of Palace's 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on March 4
saw him rewarded.
The England
international ran the entire length of the field after tackling West
Brom's Jonathan Leko on the edge of the Palace area, before finishing
into the roof of the net.
He said of
the goal: 'Even though I had nothing left I thought 'I'm going to have
to go for this'. It ended up a 2 v 2 attack and thankfully I scored the
goal.'
