Andy Murray into French Open quarter-final after straight-sets victory over John Isner
Andy Murray cruised into the quarter-final of the French Open after defeating big serving John Isner in str
aight sets.
The game was briefly halted due to a sudden downpour after Murray took the opening set 7-6 in a thrilling tie-break that saw the Briton emerge victorious, eventually edging out Isner in the 16-minute first-set tie-break which ended 11-9.
Unlike his previous matches at Roland Garros, Murray dominated throughout when he took the second set 6-4 after two Isner backhands limped into the net led to a wonderful Murray drop shot.
From then on world number 17 Isner looked resigned to defeat. Murray, who was very vocal on court, simply had too much class for his American opponent and took the third set 6-3 to win the match 7-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Andy Murray will face either Kei Nishikori or Richard Gasquet in the next round.
